THE ARTISTS OF MASQUEROTICA

Why Masquerotica? We want to take back  Halloween, returning to SF an annual happening that is fun and community-oriented; where everyone participates and is there to add to the ambiance, surprise and energy of the party. Halloween in the streets became unmanageable and unsafe.  We want to create dynamic spaces, that are limited in size, attended by the best, most active, generous, and creative of our collective communities.   We know this is YOU!   Come join the fun!!!

The people behind Masqerotica are truly a wonder to behold! Here are some of them.

THE MUTAYTOR

Website: mutaytor.com
Hailing simultaneously from Los Angeles, and Black Rock City, Nevada the Mutaytor is a 20-piece indie techno circus that overwhelms audiences with an over-the-top musical and visual assault. Featuring a full band with over 50 drums and percussion pieces, the Mutaytor choreographs original dance, circus, aerial, hoop, and video performances to their original music. With their full-length release “Yelling Theatre in a Crowded Fire,” the Mutaytor is staged to break out a completely fresh show. ||||| The Mutaytor is part hip-grinding techno-retro-funk, part audience-interactive post-modern circus. The act takes drastically advanced elements of the Grateful Dead, Parliament-Funkadelic, the Crystal Method, Louis Prima and Blue Man Group and throws them directly at the audience as riotous surreal entertainment notable for "turning Civilians into Rockstars." The sound is tight, the show manic, the vibe all-inclusively friendly. They are on stage, above the audience, IN the crowd. There's nothing like the Mutaytor in show business today and they'll probably have to spin off parts of itself in order to have any competition in the future. ||||| They've put on performances of varying size for clients including the L.A. Lakers, Cirque Du Soleil (Varekai and Zumanity openings), Disney, Warner Bros., Paramount Studios, Universal Theme Parks, E3 Video Game Convention, the Billboard DECA Awards and the Special Olympics.

DJ DAN

Website: djdan.com

To say he is an American institution wouldn't be far from the truth when it comes to DJ Dan who has been synonymous with good old American home-grown talent for over two decades now; a record collector, house innovator and true legend of the scene. |||| Born and raised on the West Coast, Dan was entrenched in music from an early age, 1989 to be exact, a time when the rave scene was enduring its birth. It's a sweeping understatement to say Dan has been at the forefront of dance music culture since the late 1980's, especially when you consider how he's shaped trends and sounds in his homeland all his musical life, taking the baton from house luminaries such as DJ Pierre, Frankie Knuckles and Ron Hardy. Drawing influence from a wealth of musical genres, Dan charts disco, jazz and funk as precursors to his interest in more industrial forms of music including freestyle and some forms of rock. |||| Having re-worked global megastar P.Diddy, 2009 has followed suit with household names clambering for a piece of Dan. His timeless remix of ‘Paparazzi' by Lady Gaga did not fail to fill dance floors, whilst his re-touch of the much hyped new single from the new queen of pop ‘Bad Romance' looks like it will make the same impact. As if that wasn't enough, Dan has added his electronic music clout to Janet Jackson's next hit ‘Make Me.' |||| From Chicago to Detroit to San Francisco, the album's adventure via the past will take you back to the future on an astronomic journey with the one and only... DJ Dan.

Eric McFadden is the inspiration for Dark Kabaret. His music unravels the soul then shakes it upside down and leaves you with nothing left but a tear in your eye and the urge to dance.
Thomas John is the clown prince of San Francisco. Thomas is a juggler, comedian, actor, and clown. Thomas recently made the cut for America's Got Talent and is booked for a six month tour of Germany starting a week after this show, so catch him while you can. Thomas's wobbly strip will wow you.
Martin comes to us from Berlin where he just performed the most dangerous card trick ever created. Martin jumped out of a plane and caught a card that Paul shot out of a cannon aimed at the plane. Martin is elegant, graceful, and stylish. You are going to love Martin's Edwardian Chamber Music number.

Sterling Johnson makes you feel like a child. Not in the creepy way that my girlfriend likes to do when we are role playing. Sterling reminds us that magic exists and that we can go out and play.
Fou Fou Ha's elaborate costumes, and flamboyant choreography mix clowning, acrobatics dance, and theatrical magic to create what NBC called a "Wildly Unique" show.

Dark Garden corsets are beautiful, sexy, and elegant. For this year's presentation of Dark Kabaret we have integrated a series of fashion interludes between the acts, each more intricate, delightful, and stunning then the last.

BUGS IN COSTUME

Website: bugsincostume.com
Bugs In Costumes is a San Francisco-based acoustic quartet characterized by our theatrical costumes and adult humor. We are a folk-comedy band with punk/jazz/rap influences that borders on performance art/musical theater. We swap instruments from song to song, including ukulele, upright bass, mandolin, fiddle, guitar, kazoo, and various percussion. We enjoy the contrast of raunchy, dark, vulnerable, and intimate subjects against pretty 3 part harmonies and absurdly silly costumes. We have a solid hour-long set of original songs which we perform in bars, cafes, and small venues. Larger theater spaces allow us to feature our dance, acting, gymnastics, and aerial dance backgrounds. Given the space and the rigging, we can hang from the ceiling and string our songs together with dance and storytelling.
